Welcome to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center!
As you embark on your career journey with us, it is our pleasure to be among the first to welcome you to the TTUHSC team. You are joining a vibrant community of exceptional team members, world-class researchers and best-in-class health care providers, brought together in an award-winning workplace culture united by a common set of core values. This page is designed to help you connect with the many resources available to you as a new team member.
Need to Know Now
As you prepare to step into your new role, there’s a lot to learn and do. The following resources have been collected to provide timely answers to some of the more pressing questions you may have as you look forward to your first day.
Looking Ahead
Plan for Your First Day
Confirm the details of your first day of work with your manager and finish any necessary hiring paperwork with Human Resources.
Complete the I-9 Verification Process
After you accept your job offer, you will receive an email from a TTUHSC Human Resources team member with details about the I-9 process and instructions for how to complete this step remotely. This step can be done in advance of your start date but must completed within your first three days of employment. Download the list of acceptable documents.
Plan for Your First Day
Confirm the date, time, and place of your first day of work with your manager. Your manager will also be able to provide guidance on where to park and how to get to your area/office. Depending on the job duties and department, other details to discuss may include dress code, lunch breaks and/or break room amenities.
Your First Week
Sit down with your manager to go over your job duties, departmental goals, expectations, work schedule, and more. Your department will request your ID badge, order any necessary building keys, and help you set up your workspace. Technical support can be found through the TTUHSC IT Solution Center.
Complete Your Benefits Enrollment Within Your First Month
Benefits-eligible team members have a wide array of insurance options and benefits plans to choose from for themselves and their spouse/dependents. Please note, new employees must finalize their benefits elections within their first 30 days on the job, otherwise, you will most likely need to wait for the annual open enrollment period to make changes to your elections.
Not sure if you're benefits-eligible? With very limited exceptions, any full-time or part-time team member who works 30 or more hours per week is considered benefits-eligible.
Keep an eye on your email! You will be contacted by your campus HR team with more information about your benefits options and instructions on how to make elections. In the meantime, take a look at our Summary of Benefits, or log in to view our Employee Benefits webpage (eRaider account required.)
Your eRaider Account
All TTU System employees and students are provided an eRaider account with an assigned eRaider username. This eRaider account serves as your electronic identification. You will use your eRaider username to access many institutional systems and resources, including your TTUHSC email and WebRaider Portal. Please note, you will need to setup your eRaider account before you create your TTUHSC e-mail address.
To begin, you will need your eRaider setup code.
Check your non-Texas Tech email account(s) for a message from "erams@ttu.edu" or from the TTUHSC staff member who manually authorized your account. (Try looking in your junk/spam folder if it is not in your inbox.)
If you could not locate a setup code, it is possible that your account is already set up. Try following the "Forgot Password" process on https://eraider.ttu.edu to try setting a new password. If that does not work, contact your campus IT Solution Center by telephone to obtain a setup code:
- Abilene: 325-696-0550
- Amarillo: 806-414-9550
- Dallas: 214-358-9550
- Lubbock: 806-743-1234
- Permian Basin: 432-703-5500
Set Up Your eRaider Account
- Browse to https://eraider.ttu.edu and click Set-Up Account.
- Submit the requested information and click Confirm.
- Review the Terms of Use and click Agree.
- If prompted, provide the additional requested biographical information. This step is not required for all users.
- Provide an alternate form of contact to be used to regain access to your eRaider account in the future (i.e., if you have been locked out and need to reset your password)
- NOTE: You must specify at least one of the alternate contact methods in order to proceed. If you do not have a US-based mobile phone number for one of the carriers specified in the drop-down list, then specify an alternate email address. A non-domestic phone carrier cannot be entered and function properly.
- The eRaider system will send verification codes to the alternate contact sources that you specified in the previous step. Type the code(s) into the appropriate fields on the eRaider setup screen and click Continue.
- Set your eRaider password and click Continue.
- Your email address will be created. It may be automatically generated eraiderusername@ttuhsc.edu, but this can be changed later – see step 13.
- If your account has access to both TTU and TTUHSC email, you will be prompted to select a primary address. After selecting your primary address, click Continue.
- If you have access to enterprise voice services, you may be prompted to set a PIN for conferencing and voice mail. Click Continue.
- Review your account information for submission. If accurate, click Complete Account Set-Up.
- Activation is now complete. Wait 30-60 minutes for your account to be created, after which you should be able to sign in and access eRaider-authenticated services.
- After your account is created, you will sign back into eRaider to correct your email address to the preferred format of firstname.lastname@ttuhsc.edu (or, your middle name, if preferred.)
- Navigate to eRaider.ttuhsc.edu and click Manage Account. After logging in, click Email Services, then click Change e-mail Address and follow the instructions.
DUO Multi-Factor Authentication
For many online systems, including access to your timecard and WebRaider, you will need to authenticate your access. At TTUHSC, we use DUO on top of eRaider authentication to add an extra level of security. To learn more and set up your account, see this guide on the TTUHSC IT Services intranet website.
Each new team member is required to complete the self-paced New Team Member Orientation (NTMO) course within their first five days. If you haven't completed NTMO, you will find it listed in your Required Courses in ACME, our eLearning platform.
Work with your supervisor or Unit Safety Officer to complete the New Employee Safety Orientation Program (NESOP) by locating all items on the list and learning safety-related processes for your work area. Return the completed form to your campus Safety Services office within five days of completing NTMO. For questions, please contact Safety Services.
While each campus has slightly different processes, your department will be able to help you navigate the request forms and procedures. Depending on the request, it may be necessary for your manager or department admin to submit the form(s).
ID/Access Badge
All team members are required to obtain and visibly wear the official TTUHSC identification badge at all times while on TTUHSC campuses.
Building and/or Office Key Request(s)
- Key Request Form (all campuses)
- Key Request Application (for use by supervisors and admins on the Lubbock campus.)
This application can only be used on the institutional network. You cannot access it from home or outside the network. You must be on campus or use VPN.
To park on campus, you must register your vehicle through Parking Services. Review the New Employee Parking Permit Registration video for more details and please be advised that when registering for a new parking permit, the amount due upfront will be equal to two monthly charges (or the full annual balance, if elected.) For questions, please contact Parking Services.
It's fast and easy to enroll in Direct Deposit through your WebRaider portal (eRaider account required)! Select the Employee tab, locate the My Texas Tech information section, then click Update my Direct Deposit..
Should you elect to enroll in direct deposit, we advise you to check your earnings statements for your first three or four checks to ensure everything looks correct. You can designate up to three accounts to have your money deposited into. One final note: You will use two-factor authentication to change your direct deposit. In addition, you will also get an email from Payroll Services stating a change has been made to your direct deposit. More Info about Direct Deposit »
Pay Information and Time Off
Payroll processes, time and leave reporting, direct deposit and earnings statements for TTUHSC team members are coordinated by the TTU System Division of Payroll and Tax Services. The TTU System Board of Regents approves the Holiday Schedule for each institution for all eligible employees, but the TTUHSC Human Resources team administers the institutional holiday calendar and other institutional leave.
Reporting Time and Leave
Whether you are hourly (non-exempt) or salaried (exempt), this website contains valuable information about reporting the hours you've worked, or the hours of leave you have taken.
Semi-monthly (non-exempt) employees report the number of hours worked through their timesheet on WebRaider or TimeClock Plus (depending on the position). This timesheet is submitted twice per month. If one of the pay dates falls on a weekend or holiday for semi-monthly payroll, you will be paid on the last workday prior to the weekend or holiday.
Monthly (exempt) employees are paid on the first working day of the month and only report the number of leave hours taken. Paychecks are issued on the actual first working day of the month. For example, if Sept. 1st falls on a Saturday, and Monday, Sept. 3rd is Labor Day holiday, paychecks will be deposited/released on Tuesday, Sept. 4th.
Your First Month
In addition to NTMO, new employees may be assigned other required training courses in accordance with state and federal legal requirements, University Policy, or administrative necessity. You will be notified through your institutional email account of any required trainings. You can also review your required training courses in your WebRaider portal (eRaider account required), in the Employee tab, within the Training Resources section.
The STAT!Alert emergency notification system communicates alerts and information to TTUHSC faculty, staff and students in the event of a campus or regional emergency. This system is also used to distribute weather-related notifications, such as delayed start times and campus closures. To ensure you receive notifications for your campus, please update your contact information and preferences (eRaider account required).
Additionally, please be aware that all emergency notifications and status updates will be posted on www.ttuhsc.edu/emergency and shared through TTUHSC social media channels.
